...quicker by the day.
This morning, I was cleaning off my buffet in my dining room. As I was sorting junk mail from bills, I stumbled across an envelope addressed to Liddy. I was sure I had mailed it out last week...I even told her it was on the way! I don't know how I did that!?!
Then, I needed to go to the BMV this morning and renew my registration for my car. I rushed to pack my lunch, made sure I had the envelope I needed to mail and rushed out the front door.
As I pulled the locked door behind me, I looked down and realized I still had my slippers on!
Back into the house I went, kicked off my slippers and put some shoes on.
This time, I got all the way into my car before I realized I didn't have the paperwork to renew my registrations. UGH. Another trip up the porch steps and back inside the house.
Somehow, even with all the repeat trips, I managed to get to the BMV and the post office without being late for work!
I think I need to start making lists...

23 Weeks, 3 days...
And Happy Birthday to me! :)
I managed to survive the weekend wedding fun, which is good, but that will have to wait until tomorrow for me to share.
Instead, I wanted to make sure I updated about the babies!
I went in this morning for follow up date with "Wanda". My doctor wanted to double check my cervical length from 2 weeks ago, when I had that small episode of spotting. M. didn't join me today, because I was sure it would be like 2 weeks ago, when they just checked my cervix, didn't even peek at the babies and sent me on my way...
Boy, was I wrong!
The tech took me back and mentioned that she needed to do a quick scan to check their heartbeats, since it had been 3 weeks since my last scan. This ultrasound junkie wasn't going to complain! Instead she scanned me for a half hour....double checking gender, heartbeats, growth. It was such a treat for me!
Here are the stats:
Baby A is still a little girl, with a heartbeat of 144 and weighed in at 1 pound, 2 oz.
She is laying diagonally across my uterus with her head near my cervix, her spine along the left side of me and her feet up by my ribs.
Baby B is definitely a little boy, with a heartbeat of 141, and weighed in 1 pound, 4oz.
He is transverse, up at the tip top of my uterus with his head on the right and his feet by Baby A's.
Their positions explained a lot of where I've been feeling the most movement (my left side!). I still can't tell exactly which baby is moving, but hopefully with time I will be able to.
Life is good. ♥ I am so blessed.

And The Hits Just Keep Coming...
This morning before work, I ran to the mall.
We have a family wedding to attend, and I needed some pantyhose. Since you can't find maternity pantyhose at your local big box store, I had to make a trip to the dreaded Mother.hood Maternity.
I was on a mission, get the pantyhose, pay and get out. Limited time to make it to work on time.
Of course, they only have ONE pair that would fit me. Thank goodness, it was a black pair. Anyone else wonder why there is always a never ending amount of S and M maternity items??? Who buys a SMALL? Certainly not me. I'm lucky to be a large or x-large type of girl when I'm not pregnant. ;)
Anyway, I grab up the package and proceed to check out. The cashier wants my phone number, then my due date, and then asked what I was having.
I should have just said a baby and left it at that.
Not even thinking, as I was signing the receipt, I casually mentioned that we were having a boy and a girl.
"Oh, twins!", she exclaimed! "You look good for being 5 months along with twins."
She's lucky she paid me the compliment, because if she hadn't I might have socked her in the mouth for the next thing to come out of her trap.
"So, are they NATURAL?", with a knowing look.
I was so shocked that I actually just looked at her, mumbled, "No.", grabbed my bag and left.
I should have told her, "No, they're monkeys" or aliens.
Who does that?
Ok, so just this week, I read that Kate had a similar experience with a nurse, but I hadn't had that one thrown at me yet.
I can deal with the questions of whether twins run in the family...that's easy. I just say neither side, or that we're the first to have twins.
I just can't believe a store clerk in a MATERNITY store had the gall to ask me that.

Once an Infertile...
...Always an infertile.
I had heard whispers in the newsroom for about a week now.
It shouldn't bother me anymore.
Why would I be upset?
I have 2 beautiful babies growing within me. I am so blessed and happy.
The walls we built around us while struggling took a long time to build, I don't know why I thought they would just fall down when we succeeded.
Someone is pregnant.
An intern.
I don't know what bothered me more...hearing that she wasn't trying and was shocked OR a supervisor pointing a finger my way and saying "You have to watch out, that's the fertile corner.".
Excuse me?
The "fertile" corner!?!
I don't think so.

Tired.
Has it really been almost a week since I last posted!?!
Somebody has been lazy...
*shrugs*
I pushed it too hard this weekend.
I made a cake for my cousin's son's 1st birthday...that meant baking Friday night, icing and decorating ALL day on Saturday, and then delivering the cake on Sunday.
It turned out really cute, but will probably be the last cake I make for a LONG time.

I have plenty on my mind, that hopefully will make it to the keyboard this week.
I promise to try...

21 weeks, 3 days, a little TMI, and Taxes
Last week, even thought I had the big ultrasound, I didn't see the doctor. She had an emergency, so I was rescheduled for today.
Overall, the appointment was pretty routine.
I peed in a cup, the nurse took my weight (up about 7 pounds in the last 5 weeks!) and blood pressure (124 over 82, yay!), and then she found the babies' heartbeats. Then I waited for the doctor to come on in...I had quite a few questions for her this time.
For the last few weeks, I've noticed an increase in discharge from below....enough that I need to wear a panty liner. It's usually clear and doesn't really have a scent, so I wasn't concerned. Last night, though, when I went to the bathroom for the 50th time, I noticed a change in color. Somewhat brown, kinda of like when your period is pretty much done, but you still need to wear something for protection.
I called poor M. in to the bathroom and made him look. Every part of me wanted to cry. My mind started heading to places I haven't been since the first trimester ended. He convinced me that it was ok, we'd watch it, and I could ask about it at my appointment.
So, I did.
And that won me a date with "wanda" for a cervical check.
The good news, my cervix is long and closed at about 3.9 centimeters. Whew!
I have to go back in 2 weeks for another look at the cervix and in 3 weeks, I have my GD test. They sent me home today with a bottle of the lovely fruit punch drink that I'll have to drink about an hour before my appointment.

::::::::::::::::::::
I want to scream.
M. picked up our taxes today.
I don't know what we're doing wrong but we owe the government AGAIN. We don't make that much. We have a dependent. It doesn't make sense.
This is 3 years in a row, that I've had to pay money, and haven't got a refund. Ugh. All around me, friends with children are talking about their big refunds!?!
It's trivial in the big scheme of things, but I was really hoping for a refund, of some sort, to put towards the babies' nursery.
Eh, I guess I'll have to pay it.

Apparently, I Am A Tease
Finally, I can sit down and write out my thoughts.
Last weekend started with me participating in a Baby Bargain sale...I didn't just look around, I actually had a table and sold items. It was a nice setup, all baby to 5 year old items, all in one place, for only 5 hours from set up to tear down.
Crazy, no? After all, I am pregnant.
Not to fret, I didn't unload everything baby I have, honest! I did sell my highchair, which I could never find room for in the odd shaped rooms of my old house. I sold a couple of big little ty.kes pieces that the twins would not use for years and were just taking up space. Most of all, I sold a ton of Miss O.'s 3T and 4T clothes. Clothes that were just sitting in bins, after the local consignment shop had taken all they wanted from them.
I managed to make $100 in just over 3 hours!
Best of all, as I walked around the building just before the sale started, my eyes landed on a crib. A crib that matched Miss O.'s crib. Same color, same brand, different model. I couldn't believe it. The sign said $25. I practically sprinted back to my table, and told M. to go take a look. About 10 minutes later, he walked in with part of the crib. He had managed to talk them down $5, so I got the perfect crib for $20!
I'm so happy, because I had really thought I wouldn't end up with another crib until after the twins were born. Now, I'm itching to figure out the nursery decorations.
After the sale, it was time to finish Miss O.'s birthday cake.
She had requested a Tink.erbell theme this year, and wanted marble cake. I ended up doing the bigger layer "triple chocolate fudge" and the smaller one "marble". Both layers were filled with chocolate buttercream.
Overall, I thought it turned out cute. I did try a new buttercream recipe and it set up a lot quicker than some of my others. I was disappointed that it cracked quite a bit, but Miss O. was happy.
Finally, if you've made it all the way through this rambling, I'll reward you with my 20 week belly shot.
As for what's baking in there....PJ from "Infertility On The Brain" and K from "Our Box Of Rain" got it right!
We're expecting a GIRL and a BOY!!!!
Both babies looked great on Monday. Baby A, the girl measured 11 oz., up from 5 oz. a month ago. Baby B, is for boy, weighed in at 12 oz, doubling from his last weigh in at 6 oz.
I am SO happy and blessed.

Quick Update and A Guess
I survived the crazy weekend.
Tons to tell you all...like about the baby sale I made over $100 at, the crib I scored for $20, Miss O.'s birthday cake & party, and most of all, what's baking in my belly!
My computer is being a pain, and won't let me upload my pictures right now. I'm going to work on it tonight, I promise!
In the meantime....what do you think we're expecting?

Friday Fives: Staplers
Suzy over at Not A Fertile Myrtle always does the Friday Five. I always want to, but just never find time to do so.
If you want to play along you can leave your answer in the comments or leave a comment with the link to the post on your blog.
Today's Friday Five is about staples:
1. Of all the hundreds of sizes and shapes bread seems to come in, what is your favorite?
1. Of all the hundreds of sizes and shapes bread seems to come in, what is your favorite?
I love a good, crusty french baguette...especially paired with soup!
2. What's your favorite thing to eat with rice?
Any kind of stir fry!
But my favorite rice dish is called Georgia's rice. My mom's friend made a rice side dish with mushrooms and french onion soup, then baked it in a casserole. YUM! I could eat a big bowl of just that for dinner.
3. What is your staple color in your wardrobe?
Brown. My wardrobe probably consists of 75% brown...I just like it with my skin and hair color.
4. What was wrapped in the tortilla you most recently ate?
Shredded pork, pinto beans, salsa, sour cream, guacamole....gotta LOVE Chip.otle.
5. How many staplers are there in your house and where are they?
One stapler....it's really tiny and sits in my junk drawer. I'm much more apt to use a paper clip than a stapler anymore.

Out Of The Mouths Of Babes....
This morning, while I was brushing Miss O.'s hair, this is what she told me...
"Mommy, first you're a child. Then you get married and you're real skinny (I wish!). Then your belly gets big and you have TWO babies!"
I explained to her that you don't always have 2 babies, that I only had her the first time I was pregnant. Her response...
"Oh, well. When I'm older I'm going to have THREE babies!"
