The Quote

"If you can find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn't lead anywhere."
~ Frank A. Clark

I was cleaning out my desk at work yesterday, and stumbled across this quote written down on a post it note.

Funny how things just pop up when you need them, no?

As I read it, I realized that I came across it almost 2 years ago, and jotted it down. I was in a big transition in my career at the time, and had just suffered my 4th loss. The quote spoke to me then, and still does today.

I needed to read it, let it rumble around in my brain, really think about it.

No matter what the outcome of this cycle is, I need to not give up. I can't control how my body responds to the drugs, whether the embies (I hope!) we get implant, and I sure can't control whether my body accepts a pregnancy for the long haul.

So much of this, heck, LIFE, is out of our control.

And if it does work?

It will be all the sweeter because of the obstacles I've had to overcome.

::::::::::::::::::::

I can NOT thank all of you enough for your support.

Dr. Hope called yesterday afternoon.

We've upped my folli.stim up to 150iu's twice a day. Yay, 3 shots a day! Can you feel the sarcasm?

I've been feeling some twinges in the left side of my abdomen today.

Here's hoping we see MANY follies on Monday.

  6. Call it fate, call it coincidence, call it karma, whatever. I think things (such as this quote you found) are placed in front of us when we need it the most because of a need we put out in the universe. Not sure where you stand on God and faith, but it's kind of like a hand delivered answer to a prayer. God saying "yep, I hear you, and this is what you have to remember". I love that quote, and I'm glad it has brought you some peace with this struggle. It reminds me of something my Great-Aunt Effie (greatest woman that ever lived, and I miss her soooo much!) used to say: Nothin' worth having was ever quick or easy. It's so true. Sometimes I just have to remind myself that I'm not the one in control, and that if it's worth it, it's probably going to take a lot of work to get it (whatever "it" turns out to be). You are right...it will be that much sweeter and so much more appreciated when this process does work for you.
Blech on the 3 shots a day...but just keep your eye on the goal and remember that you are a wonderful mother doing everything it takes for her child...even though that child has yet to be conceived. :) Sending lots of peace and love your way.

  10. Oh the twinges could mean a positive sign. Hope your Monday appointment goes well. Will add another quote to your collection and that says:

Try hard to get what you like or you will be forced to like what you get.

    All the best.

  15. I love that quote! The one I've used to help myself "get through" is Robert Frost: "The best way out is always through" I'll have to add yours to my list. :)

  16. GREAT quote! Thanks for sharing.

(Oh and sorry about the shots. Owie.) I guess you could just think of them as just a few more obstacles, but I'm not sure if that lessens the sting or not.

    Good luck on Monday!
