I Got My Fix...

Yes, I got my fix on Wednesday.

I'm officially an ultrasound junkie.

It's not something I'm proud of, but seeing the babies move around just gives me such joy and relief! And hearing their heartbeats? Oh, I'm in love. I don't understand how this pregnancy with Miss O. only consisted of 3 ultrasounds the entire nine months and I was fine. This time, if I go more than 2 weeks without one, I get all jittery and start to worry. It's ridiculous!

My OB appointment went really well. M. and I arrived early, because I knew there would be a lot of paperwork to fill out, being a new patient and all. I had a mild panic attack when I couldn't figure out my "last menst.rual period" date. After 4 years, of struggling, where I knew my LMP by heart for months at a time, I couldn't believe that I didn't have a date in my mind. I asked the receptionist, do I use the period before Lu.pron or my bleed after Lu.pron? She looked just as confused as I was, and said, just write "IVF" there. Crisis averted.

The staff was great. I felt a little bad for the nurse taking my history...when you have to list all our lost pregnancies and problems, it's pretty depressing. She kept looking up at me with this "shell shocked" look, like she couldn't believe that I was adding another loss. In the end, M. and I just said it's been a LONG road to get to this point.

Best part of the appointment, by far, was another ultrasound, just to make sure our due date was accurate. M. and I finally heard the heartbeats, what a sweet, beautiful sound!

And now the good stuff, pictures!

Baby A aka "Thing 1" and Baby B aka "Thing 2" measured within one day of each 10w5d and 10w6d respectively.

Both at 10.5 weeks

Thing 1 was dancing all around and had a heartbeat of 168.

Thing 1 at 10.5 weeks

Thing 2 was laid back, just hanging out and waving to us. The heartbeat was 158.

Thing 2 at 10.5 weeks

I head back on the 11th for another appointment and my NT scan, so I'll have another ultrasound!

  1. So lovely to see those babies of yours all bouncy and wave-y and healthy.

(P.S. There's an award for you to play with over yonder.)

  2. Aren't ultrasounds the BEST! My friend who just had a baby, and um... got pregnant on "accident", only had two ultrasounds her entire pregnancy. I was amazed. I think I get another one on Friday, and that will make 6 ultrasounds at 14 weeks! LOL!

Then I have to wait like three weeks. I'll be pulling out the home doppler. I'm going to use that sparatically (like once a week) until I can feel them move consistently.

I hated giving my history too. The NP was like, so this is your 4th pregnancy? And I had to think about it. Sad.

    Glad you're doing well!

  3. Very Cute! And such a lovely sight.

Congrats again and many many well wishes for a wonderful 2010.

  4. Aw, so very precious. Each heartbeat is a a true miracle:-)

  5. So adorable!!!! Congratulations on 2 beautiful heartbeats. I have a feeling I will be the same way about ultrasounds when I finally do get pregnant again.

  6. They look great! I'm glad you had your fix ;-)

  7. YES!!!! Love those two! I am *so* freaking excited for you!!

ps- I ditched my old blog and made a new one :)

  8. I know what you mean about being an ultrasound junky. It's been three weeks for me and if I were a dog, I'd be chasing my tail right about now. I will still have to wait another week and a half. Thing 1&2 look marvelous, so happy you got to see them squidging around and waving. That's the best.

  9. Yay for Thing 1 and Thing 2! I remember how great it was having frequent u/s; I was worried that I wouldn't know what to do with the following pregnancy being "normal" as opposed to high risk. But then there was a placental concern, so we got lots of ultrasounds anyway! (of course, we'd all prefer a "normal" pregnancy, but it's nice to check in on the chitlins frequently!)

  10. This post brought tears to my eyes. Such beautiful babies! I CANNOT wait to see them born and in your long-awaiting arms.

  11. Oh what a rush that must have been....babies are too cute....

All the best for the NT scan!

Sendings lots of blessings to the babies and Miss O!

  12. That's absolutely wonderful news, sweetie!!

  13. So awesome! They are beautiful :)

  14. beautiful kiddos you have there!

  15. Giggle... you're and ultrasound junkie. Giggle. So cute. I am so glad you got to hear the heartbeats and that things are looking good. I had to have one a month after the whole ER, early contractions incident and I am ashamed to say that by the 9th month, I barely looked at the monitor. Eeeek. I think at that point I just wanted to see the real thing instead of a black and white version of it. :)

  16. They look beautiful!!! I saw this post the other day and i couldn't wait to come back to it and see it again!!

  17. Just commenting to admit that I am a total addict, too! I can't see enough of these babies! Of course, my doctor does her best to feed the addiction, so I'm not the only one responsible for my incessant desire to see these babies!

  18. I can't believe you are having twins! OMG! Where have I been. Hmmmm... I guess I've been buy with my own Thing 1 and Thing 2. HA! Congrats!
