I feel utterly helpless.

My little sis and her husband underwent their respective surgeries yesterday.

Her egg retrieval went well....13 mature eggs.

His T.E.S.E...found nothing.

They even unthawed what little they found in his May surgery.

Nothing usable.

I can't even imagine how she's feeling.

Devastated doesn't even begin to explain how she sounded on the phone. She says she can't get a read on how he feels.

It's so unfair.

They only held off on the cancer treatments for this ONE shot.

And they got NOTHING.

I'm at such a loss to support her...

What would you do?

  1. I am so sorry for your sister.

The best thing you can do is to just be there for her and listen.

  2. Oh my gosh, that is terrible. I am so sorry. I have no suggestions to offer other than to be there to help her however she needs.

  3. I am so very sorry. Just be there for her for a shoulder to cry on and lots and lots of prayers.

  4. Please send our heartfelt wishes of support for your sister. Her news is heartbreaking. You asked what to do, maybe they could freeze her eggs (oocyte freezing, they do that now) and then try to get more specimens from him in the next few months? So sorry for your family.

  5. Oh god I'm so very sorry to read that news, that's awful for them. Not sure what I would do except offer my shoulder and baking and feel useless.

  6. Oh honey, that is so devastating. My heart is breaking for them just reading this. As for how to support her, just being there, as everyone else has mentioned, will probably be the best support. I cannot even begin to imagine how they are feeling, especially in light of the cancer treatments. So sad. Please let them know that they are in my thoughts and I am praying prayers for strength, comfort, and understanding during this horrific time. ((((HUGS)))) to your sis, BIL, and you too!

  7. oh my god. I am so sorry. i wouldn't even know what to say

  8. I'm so sorry to hear this news, the only thing you can do is tell her you're sorry and be there for her to talk to and to let her cry on your shoulder if she needs to.

    Thinking of you all.

  9. I'm so sorry for your sister and her husband. There just aren't words. If you are close enough, maybe offer a distraction and some space to talk about it.

  10. Oh how sad . . .

I'm afraid that all you can do is listen, listen, listen and agree wholeheartedly with her that this really sucks.

  11. Oh wow. I'm so sorry. I can't begin to imagine how devastated they must be. Thoughts and prayers are with them.

  12. I am so sorry for your sister. Please let her know that she and your BIL are in mine and E's prayers.

Still praying for you as well.

  13. I'm so sorry for them: There is very little worse than finding out you and your husband's chance of having a bio child doesn't exist. The only thing you can do, is to let her know you're there for her, if and when she needs you.

  14. Incredibly hard....I am so, so sorry. Just be there--whenever and however she needs you--she will let you know. HUGS for both of you...
