Coffee, Stat!

Coffee, stat!

I need a pick me up today.

This week the twins have decided that sleeping is no longer high on their lists of things to do.

Big Boy has been sleeping all night about 75% of the time for about a month. Pretty Girl teased me last week by sleeping through the night for the first time.

It's been downhill ever since.

Both she AND Big Boy are now getting up in the middle of the night to eat.

In the case of Pretty Girl, she's decided that the middle of the night is the perfect time to start nursing every 2 hours again!?! I've tried to settle her with just a binky, but she's not having it. Only nursing will do. So, she eats for about 15 minutes and then goes back to sleep.

I haven't felt this rough since about late November. It's shocking how quickly you forget what it's like to survive on little to no sleep. What's even more shocking is how great 4 hours uninterrupted feels!

This too shall pass.

In the meantime, I'm very thankful for my Christmas present from the kids...and a little snack to go along with my coffee.

Yum!

  1. Growth spurt? When K was going through one she nursed ALL THE TIME.

Hope it passes soon. Sleep is precious.

  2. It must be in the air! Adelyn hasn't slept through the night in 2weeks now! Sooo sleepy! I hope you are able to catch a break soon.

  3. HAHA! Stollen from Aldi! That's a favorite coffee snack in these parts, too.

It is amazing how quickly we get used to the extra sleep. It's been getting a bit better around these parts, but the last two nights, Henry has been waking every hour or so, and won't go back to sleep without nursing. So so so so frustrating! It's like just as I'm really falling into a nice, heavy sleep, he's awake again. It's hard on H, it's hard on me, it's hard on Jack ('cos Henry wakes Jack up with all of his racket...), and it can't be good for Henry to never sleep longer than an hour or two. And, of course, Henry is protesting his naps now, too. Does he just not need to sleep anymore? Ugh.

    Sigh. Exhausting.

Yes, good words to remember: This, too, shall pass!

  4. Love Aldis!

I second or third the growth spurt...hopefully it's over quickly and they settle back down to sleep soon.
