How Do You Do It?

Has it really been 10 days since my last post!?!

I would have never thought it had been that long...

I was sure that I've posted a couple of posts over the last 10 days! They must have only been in my head...

The days are running together, but overall, we're doing good here. Just no time to do anything but feed & change babies. We seem to be in the middle of a growth spurt, where at anytime one of the twins will decide they need to eat every hour, on the hour. In between, I'm trying to get out of the house and get Miss O. the things she needs to start school in less than 2 weeks.

Mornings are better than evenings, but I never seem to have ANY time to do anything but feed & change diapers. The announcements have been in my house for two weeks now, and I've yet to write out a single envelope! I'm lucky if I get a shower every 2 days. Eating while your meal is hot? Forget about it!

I know it will pass, so I'm just trying to stay in the zone, focus on them and commit the memory of how they are now to my brain. I just wish I could find a little balance...

So, obviously, I haven't read a blog in about a week. How are you? Any big news I'm missing? And more importantly, how do you do it? How do you find anytime in your day, even if it's five minutes, for you?

  1. Hehe, I don't know how you do it with two!! I mean I guess you kind of have to ;). My day sounds like yours only with one baby. I guess I get more time on the computer cause I sure don't get time to clean or put on makeup or to do anything that requires more than ten minutes or so.

  2. I gets better! At 9 weeks, we are feeding every 3-4 hours, but we definitely have those times when they need a "snack" inbetween. Of course, we're doing formula - I can't remember if you are or not? Plus, I feel like we just really had to get into a routine and get used to everything. There was a lot of troubleshooting at the beginning, and WAY too many people around (ahem, mother in law). We've got the swing of things now, for the most part. Of course, I'm going back to work next week, so there will be a big adjustment there.

I'm working on thank you cards this week, from everything that was given to us after the birth (which surprisingly, was a lot!). I know people probably think we're ungrateful. But really, we're just insanely busy.

And um... see how many posts I've made since June! LOL!

  3. The only way I get anything done (meaning internet or eating hot food) is to do it while tandem nursing the boys (they're nursing right now, for example...). I eat while they nurse, I fold laundry while they nurse, I read books, write blog posts, answer emails, address the birth announcements, etc.

Otherwise, I have to make H hold them. Sometimes (rare sometimes-- very, very rare) they manage to be asleep at the same time, but that doesn't last long. Sometimes we use the swings or bouncer chairs, but again, it doesn't last long, and generally isn't able to please both boys at the same time anyhow. It's gotten to where chores are a priviledge, because I can be doing something besides holding two babies at once. I'm cooking dinner tonight, and H will be caring for the boys while I do so. Then, I'll watch the boys while he does dishes (unless I argue for dish priviledges, but H usually wins that one because the boys are still nursing after being away from me for a WHOLE HOUR while cooking...).

But yes. My GOD, it's hard sometimes.

  4. I used to do everything I could while I tandem nursed. I would sit to nurse with my laptop near and that was my "me" time. It wasn't very exciting, but it was all I had for a while. The time flies by and all of the sudden they are eating quickly and spacing it out. I used to wear mine in a Moby wrap. It allowed me to have 2 free hands to get things done around the house. They were colicky boobaholics, so there was no real "me" time for awhile, but it gradually comes back.

  5. I don't think I had time in the beginning, but it did get better...Soon you'll have time, as you said, just enjoy them.

  6. The first 3 months felt like one long day for me. One of the twins was always awake, or unsettled, or on the boob, or sleeping on me. I had about 1 hour sleep a day and ran on pure adrenalin. You are not alone. But the good news is that it does get better and there are so many wonderful moments ahead for you. My B/G twins are 20 months old now and I survived (I wouldn't have believed it at your stage :)

Just take it one hour at a time and keep thanking your lucky stars that you have two beautiful, healthy little people. Congrats! Visiting from Multiples and More (in case you are wondering!)
