Hello?

Hello? Hello? Hello?

I'm still around.

Life is crazy.

Life is wonderful.

Here's a quick synopsis of what's going on...

  • M. is out of town. He left yesterday and won't be back until SUNDAY.
  • This is the longest I've ever been alone with the twins and Miss O...it's no big deal during the day, but doing the bedtime routine by yourself is challenging.
  • The twins are already 9 months old. When did that happen?
  • I can't find time to sit down and type at the computer. Why? Because the twins are on the move. Crawling. Pulling up. Craziness!
  • I got a Ni.ke + for my birthday and a new pair of sneaks...now I just have to find time to use them!
  • Teething sucks.
  • It will not stop raining here. I think we've had 3 dry days in the last month. I'm seriously losing my mind from the lack of sunshine.
  • I've somehow managed to gain 10 pounds over the last 2 months.
  • Gaining sucks when you've worked hard to lose 60 pounds, and still have more you want to lose.
  • I have a love/hate relationship with my pump.
  • My breastfed baby has 2 teeth, while my bottle fed baby has none. NOT fair.
  • I've started freelancing back at my former place of employment. It's very sporadic, but is allowing me to keep my foot in the door.
  • Sleep is not going well right now, I'm blaming teething, and praying for something to change soon.
Of course, a baby is stirring, so I have to run...

Who, Me?

I never used to be a list maker.

If I did take the time to write something down, such as a grocery list, it never failed I'd forget to take it with me.

That was before the twins.

Now, I don't go a day without writing something down, even if it's just a quick note to remind me to move the laundry from the washer to the dryer. (Don't laugh, if I don't it's liable to stay in the washer for days before I remember...eww!)

I would be lost without my lists.

That's why I laughed to myself last Friday, as a nice lady commented on how organized *I* was.

Me? Really? Me?

It was a good day. I somehow managed to get myself and the twins ready and out the door in time for me to make an exercise class at the Y. One of my birthday presents was a coupon book, good for childcare there, so I could start working out again. I was nervous that I wouldn't have everything I needed for the caretakers, even though the twins would only be in there a little over an hour. After checking them in, I headed up to the class and tried to not to look as out of shape as I am!

Afterwards, I practically ran back to the childcare room, anxious to see how they were doing...

Pretty Girl was happily bouncing in an exer.saucer while Big Boy was sitting in a caretaker's lap.

Nothing but smiles all around.

I chatted with the worker about how they did. As she watched me gather their things, load them up in their carriers and snap them into the stroller, that's when she made the comment.

"Oh, you are so organized! Everything has a place and is in order...most mom's with ONE baby aren't that organized."

I smiled and politely said thank you.

Inside I was rolling on the floor with laughter...if she only knew how many lists it took to plan this little outing!

A Big One

Today is my birthday.

Over five years ago when we started trying for child #2, I might have thought that I'd be celebrating this birthday being a mom of 3, but I would have never envisioned all that it took to get here.

I won't lie, though, I was a little melancholy about this birthday, maybe even dreading it a little.

Lucky me, I'm now the magical age where doctors consider you of "advanced" age...when it comes to having children.

I didn't think it would bother me. Honestly, we're probably not going to have another child, so it really doesn't matter.

It does bother me a little, though.

You see, in MY plan, I wouldn't have had struggled to have more kids. My path would have included 3 children, all 2 years apart, which means the youngest would have been three this year. Instead, I have 8 month old twins and a 6 year difference between my oldest and youngest.

What's that saying..."The best laid plans..."?

Anyways, I couldn't feel more blessed than I do right now!

I had a wonderful day, filled with lots of hugs, kisses, and love. Along with quite a few dirty diapers, too! ;)

M. took us all out for dinner(the babies slept the whole time!), I had a nice big coffee drink from Car.ibou, followed up with cake and presents at home. Miss O. gave me a gift card to my favorite craft store, and the babies gave me a new travel mug for my coffee. M. bought me a carousel for my k cups and a gift card for ni.ke. I think I'm going to buy a new pair of sneaks and the "+" system for my ipod.

Add in a bunch of birthday wishes on FB and cards from the Braces Bunch and I had a GREAT day!

Status Quo

24 hours in a day are not enough.

At least, not enough to get everything *I* want to get done.

Especially when sleep is at a premium around these parts.

I miss blogging, I miss commenting, I miss YOU!

Someday, hopefully soon, I will find balance and be able to document the craziness that is my life after twins and with a first grader! For once, after reading a blog post in my reader, I'll be able to click over and comment immediately, instead of marking it "unread" so that I can do so later...which I can never find time to do.

All I can do is try...

Coffee, Stat!

Coffee, stat!

I need a pick me up today.

This week the twins have decided that sleeping is no longer high on their lists of things to do.

Big Boy has been sleeping all night about 75% of the time for about a month. Pretty Girl teased me last week by sleeping through the night for the first time.

It's been downhill ever since.

Both she AND Big Boy are now getting up in the middle of the night to eat.

In the case of Pretty Girl, she's decided that the middle of the night is the perfect time to start nursing every 2 hours again!?! I've tried to settle her with just a binky, but she's not having it. Only nursing will do. So, she eats for about 15 minutes and then goes back to sleep.

I haven't felt this rough since about late November. It's shocking how quickly you forget what it's like to survive on little to no sleep. What's even more shocking is how great 4 hours uninterrupted feels!

This too shall pass.

In the meantime, I'm very thankful for my Christmas present from the kids...and a little snack to go along with my coffee.

Yum!

March Madness

The month of March is here...and I'm NOT talking about college basketball!

I'm probably going to lose my mind.

This month is full of SO many things for our family. It's Miss O.'s and my birth month, as well as quite a few other family members.

For example, this week alone, we have the father/daughter dance Friday night, a cousin's birthday party on Saturday up North, and a first birthday party for a friend's daughter on Sunday. I haven't found a dress for Miss O. yet, and still need to purchase 2 birthday presents. On the list of things to do, finish planning Miss O.'s party, secure goody bag treats, and design a cake. (Miss O. is adamant that I bake her cake...)

I am crazy.

If I get through the month without a major meltdown, I will consider it a success!

Overall, I can't complain...things are going pretty well here.

The twins are starting to become mobile. Scary! So far, they can only get up on all fours and propel themselves backwards. They are both enjoying trying out solid food and Pretty Girl has popped 2 teeth over the last 2 weeks. If we could sleep through the night things would be better, but I'm hoping that will come with time...sadly, they seem to be no where near doing so.

Lots on my mind and plenty of things to say, but no time to post! I'm going to try to bang out a couple of posts in the next couple of days, and try to comment on the blogs I'm reading. I can't figure out how anyone with babies finds a way to do so...I must be doing something wrong!

So, I leave you with a couple of questions....any input is appreciated!

How much should 7 month old children eat when it comes to solids?

Right now the twins have a jar of baby food for lunch and dinner, plus puffs/rice teethers while we eat dinner, and cereal before bed. Pretty Girl still nurses on demand and Big Boy drinks about five, 6 oz bottles of half BM, half formula a day.

Does anyone have the Nike + for running? Do you need special shoes to make it work or can you attach it to any shoe? Do you like it? Why?

I'm thinking about asking for it for my birthday, but don't really understand how it works. I have an ipod touch, which is compatible, but worry that I need new shoes, too!

If you are a SAHM after working, how did you adjust to not working?

There is a whole post brewing in my head on this one...I think I'm finally falling into a routine and feeling like I'm actually contributing to the household. I won't lie, though, I don't like not having an income!
